How to fix a mailbox or LinkedIn account that stopped working
Connections expire: a password changes, a session ends, access is revoked. Here is how to spot a mailbox or LinkedIn account that needs attention and get it sending again.
Rainmaker sends from the mailbox and LinkedIn account you connected. When one of those connections stops working, nothing goes out from it until it is fixed. Each teammate fixes their own; an owner or admin can fix anyone's.
1. Spot a mailbox that needs attention
In the sidebar, open Settings, then Email deliverability. In the Mailboxes & Calendar card, a mailbox in trouble shows one of two badges:
- Needs reconnecting: Rainmaker checked with your mailbox provider and the connection needs you to sign in again. The calendar shows May be affected, because it uses the same connection.
- Stopped working: the connection is no longer active, for mail and calendar alike.
2. Reconnect the mailbox
Click Reconnect on that mailbox, not Connect another mailbox. Rainmaker takes you to its secure connection partner, where you sign in to the same email account and grant access again. Reconnecting keeps the mailbox's settings, daily cap and campaigns.
When you come back you should see Mailbox connected — sends resume automatically, and the mailbox and calendar marked Connected. If you see Connection failed, nothing was changed; click Try again.
3. Spot a LinkedIn account that needs attention
Go to Settings, then LinkedIn connection. Under Accounts, an account in trouble shows Error, with the reason under its details. Two reasons are common:
- LinkedIn ended this account's session. You need to sign in again: click Connect and log in as you did the first time. If LinkedIn asks for a check, approve it in your LinkedIn app and click I approved it, or enter the code and click Submit code.
- Several LinkedIn sends in a row failed from this account, which pauses automatic sending from it. The cause is often the recipients rather than the account. Fix what the last error points at, then use step 4.
An account shown as Checkpoint is waiting for you to finish one of those LinkedIn checks.
4. Refresh the LinkedIn status
Click Refresh status. Rainmaker asks LinkedIn where the account stands and shows Checked "Sam Carter" with LinkedIn. If it is back to Connected, automated sending resumes on the next tick. When the account is back to Connected, sending from it resumes by itself.
If it still shows Error, LinkedIn really did end the session: click Connect and sign in again.
If emails failed or a campaign paused
Emails that failed while the connection was broken stay on the Failed tab of Inbox & Meetings: retry them once it is fixed, as shown in find out why an email didn't send.
If you disconnected a mailbox or LinkedIn account instead of reconnecting it, the campaigns sending from it paused: pick a new sender in each campaign's settings, then resume it. See resume a campaign after an automatic pause, and for setting up a connection from scratch, connect your mailbox and LinkedIn account.
