How to do prospecting with Rainmaker
Your first campaign from start to finish: paste your website, approve the buyer segments, source leads, review the drafts, launch, and handle the replies.
This guide takes you through one full campaign. Before you start, connect your mailbox: Rainmaker sends from your own address, and a campaign cannot launch without one. Nothing in this guide sends an email until the launch step, and every email waits for your approval first.
1. Start a new campaign from your website
Click New campaign in the sidebar. If your workspace already has a website, choose New website. Type your Company website (you can also add your company deck as a PDF) and click Read company.
Rainmaker reads your public pages to understand what you sell, who buys it and why. This can take a little while.
2. Check the company summary
Read the Company summary and edit anything that is wrong: everything after this step builds on it. Owners and admins also see About your company (legal name, privacy contact and address, used for European outreach); fill it in and click Save and continue, or click Skip for now.
3. Approve your buyer segments
Rainmaker proposes between two and six buyer segments. Each one has a name, Target titles, Target countries, a Default draft language and Why they buy. Edit them so they match the buyers you really want.
Pick the campaign goal, Book meetings or Drive account signups. To add a segment Rainmaker missed, click Add another ICP (see how to add your own ICPs). Then click Create campaigns. Each segment becomes its own campaign.
4. Source and score leads
On the Campaigns created screen, click Source leads next to a campaign (or open the campaign's Leads tab), then click Run prospector. Rainmaker finds people who match the segment, checks that they can be contacted, and scores how well each one fits. Leads appear on the page as they are saved.
Click any lead to see its Fit score and the evidence behind it. To reach specific companies, add them as target companies. Need more leads later? Click Source more.
5. Draft the sequence
On the Leads tab, click Draft sequence. Rainmaker researches each lead and writes the emails in the sequence. Every factual sentence has to cite a source. A draft with a claim it cannot source is blocked, so it can never be approved or sent.
6. Review and approve the drafts
Click Review in the sidebar and open the campaign's batch. For each person, read the drafts and click a citation number to see its source. Then Approve, Edit or Reject each draft, or Approve all for that person. Use Request redraft to have a person's whole sequence rewritten, with a note on what to change. See how to review and approve drafts for more.
7. Launch the campaign
When nothing is left to decide and at least one email is approved, click Launch campaign. Rainmaker sends the approved emails from your mailbox, following the campaign's sequence. By default that is three emails, on day 0, day 3 and day 7, sent Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00 UTC. Each mailbox also stays within its daily cap.
You can change the timing in the Sequence section of the campaign's Overview tab. The sequence stops for a person as soon as they reply or book a meeting.
8. Handle the replies
Replies arrive in Inbox & Meetings. The Needs reply tab shows the conversations waiting on you. Rainmaker drafts an answer with its sources; edit it if you like, then click Send reply. You can also click Redraft for a new version, or Dismiss to drop it.
When a prospect agrees to a time, Rainmaker shows the proposed meeting with a Book it button. Nothing is booked until you click it. Booked meetings are then tracked on the Meetings tab.
Try it on your own site.
