How to resume a campaign after Rainmaker pauses it

Rainmaker pauses a campaign by itself when its daily budget runs out, when too many emails bounce, or when its sender is removed. Here is how to tell which, fix it and resume.

A campaign that Rainmaker paused stays paused until someone resumes it: it never restarts by itself, even the next day. Nothing is lost while it waits. Approved emails stay in the queue and go out once you resume.

1. See which campaign is paused, and why

Home shows a red line for each campaign that has stopped sending, with a Fix button that takes you to it:

  • "Campaign name" is paused — its daily budget is spent. The campaign reached its daily send budget.
  • "Campaign name" is paused to protect your sending reputation — too many messages bounced recently. Too many of its emails bounced, or too many people marked them as spam.

A campaign you paused yourself shows is paused — nothing is going out.

2. Open the campaign

Click Fix, or open the campaign from Campaigns. On its Overview, the status reads Paused — budget reached after a budget pause, or Paused otherwise. The Resume button is at the top right, for anyone who can send. If sending isn't fully set up, the button reads Sending setup instead and takes you to the Mailboxes & Calendar card under Settings, Email deliverability.

Don't resume yet: first deal with the cause, in step 3 or 4.

3. Budget spent: raise the budget or wait

Go to the campaign's Settings tab. Under Volume and budget, Daily send budget is the most the campaign may spend on sending in a day, in US dollars, counted from midnight UTC. Raise it and click Save changes at the top of the page, or leave it and wait until after midnight UTC.

If you resume on the same day without raising it, the campaign pauses again at its next send.

4. Too many bounces, or a removed sender

Too many bounces. Rainmaker stopped the campaign to protect your domain. Before resuming, look at what bounced and why: check that your mailbox is connected and healthy under Settings, Email deliverability, and that the campaign is reaching real addresses. Resuming doesn't reset this check: if the campaign's bounce rate is still over the limit, it pauses again the next time it sends.

Sender removed. When someone disconnects a mailbox or LinkedIn account that a campaign was set to send from, Rainmaker pauses that campaign and says so, for example: Paused "Finance leaders at scaleups", which sent from this mailbox. Pick a new sender in its settings, then resume. Open the campaign's Settings tab, choose a new mailbox under Send from (or a new LinkedIn account) in the Sender card, and save. A campaign that had picked that mailbox but was not sending yet is not paused: it switches to the workspace default, and the notice says so.

5. Resume the campaign

Back on the campaign's Overview, click Resume. You see Campaign is active and delivery has been queued. and the status changes to Active. Approved emails go out on the next sending pass, within the campaign's send window and caps.
